World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to boost an item's gear score up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you decide to take them to the Kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like an ideally broken point armour that is rolled for melee PvP) while others like weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats such as the chance to crit, attack damage as well as PvE and PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus which increases their damage per second. Additionally some weapons come with a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon are equipped on a unit. In certain instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon can sustain by itself.
A weapon's upgrade costs depend on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. Armor
Making a few improvements to your armor could make a an enormous difference in your ability to endure. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, which makes the journey through difficult terrain a breeze. In general, the more defense you can offer your character, the more health you'll receive from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them each of which requires you to complete a special side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the primary side quest and have completed the fountain that corresponds and then you can speak to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.
The amount of material needed to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. The Champion Leathers, for example can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in cold environments with a large group of foes. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense to ensure you can survive a raid with your comrades.
Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll need to focus on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power in the case of a Mage. You should also save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you will still be wearing by the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town in Gerudo Town, you can unlock some perks on your armor. You'll typically want to keep these upgrades to the weapon that you'll use to beat the game. For example, the Longsword or Battleaxe. It's nevertheless beneficial to have a few upgrades to the chest armor and helmets so that you can escape some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by a player, provide an immediate effect for a short period of time. There are five different types of potions, each having a specific set of effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to increase their level of effectiveness. Trinkets
A trinket is a small, inexpensive ornament or piece jewelry. It can also refer to an ornament or object that serves a purpose, but is not important as a Thimble. In certain traditions, trinkets are used to signify friendship or affection, especially between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets unlike other items that can be upgraded can be swapped at will without losing stats.
Upgrade vendors are located at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are bought with tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades are a cost-effective alternative to buying a new trinket. You can upgrade their trinket for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same base level as the old trinket however, it will also come with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded when the old ones are not needed which allows a player to boost their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players, making them a popular alternative to gold.
In general, players should upgrade their most important items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, then their secondary items and finally, other items of gear will not be replaced in the near future (for instance, a ring or cloak). It is also important to consider your class's preferred stats when deciding the items to upgrade. For instance when Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest.
Trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher ilvl after they're no longer needed and the new trinket will receive an additional 1% upgrade bonus. A re-upgrade, however, will cause the trinket to be destroyed unless it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades but still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
